Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get fishing recommendations?
Open the App, select your target species and water body type, then tap "Get Recommendations." The App will use your current location to fetch live weather data and provide lure, technique, and timing suggestions.
Why does the App need my location?
MobileMountaineer uses your location to pull real-time weather conditions, barometric pressure, and sunrise/sunset times from Apple WeatherKit. This data powers the recommendation engine and bite forecast timeline.
What is the Bite Forecast Timeline?
The bite forecast is a 24-hour chart that scores each hour based on weather conditions, barometric pressure trends, and solunar feeding periods. Higher scores indicate times when fish are more likely to be active.
How does heart rate tracking work?
If you grant HealthKit permission, the App reads your heart rate briefly when you log a catch. This lets you see your excitement spike alongside your catch details. Heart rate data stays on your device and is never shared.
How do I start a trip?
Tap "Start Trip" on the main screen. The App will continuously update recommendations as weather conditions change. You can log catches, take photos for fish identification, and share your session with friends via SharePlay.
Can I use the App without cellular service?
The App requires an internet connection to fetch weather data and generate recommendations. Previously loaded data may be available briefly, but a connection is needed for accurate, real-time results.
How do I delete my data?
All data is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the App removes all trip logs, catch records, and preferences.
